The Best Damn Ginger Shot Recipe (unfiltered)
It's January 1st and we're about to start our 2018 health resolutions off the right way: with a ginger shot. Avoid added expense and waste from purchasing ginger shots at a store by making your own immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich shots at home!
Unfiltered Ginger Shot
(The Best Damn)
This recipe is unfiltered, so it's going to be a lot more chunky and smoothie-like than the traditional juiced ginger shot.
I like this method better because you're still getting all of that good fiber from your ingredients. If you find that it's too thick for you, simply add a bit more liquid or squeeze the blended mixture through a cheesecloth/nutmilk bag. I recommend making your shots fresh as much as possible, but in my experience they do last in the fridge for up to a week. This recipe is damn good and damn good for you!
- 1 inch chunk of fresh ginger root
- 1 lemon
- 1 inch chunk of fresh turmeric root
- 1/4 cup liquid: I suggest fresh juice*, can sub water
- pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- teaspoon natural sweetener (optional)
- wheatgrass (optional)
*my favorites are pineapple, mango or orange, but apple or more lemon would work
Peel the lemon, ginger and turmeric. Put all desired ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If you wish, strain through a nutmilk bag or cheesecloth. Enjoy!
